The Porsche 930 is the starting point for the German automaker’s turbocharged monster machines. Of course, the monstrous part of the early efforts was the potential for unplanned oversteer adventure. Today’s turbocharged 911s are different animals entirely. Still, the original cars just look fantastic. That doesn’t mean there’s room for improvement and Makellos Classics has found a way to deliver that in an absolute stunner of a package they call the TurboM.
The list of modifications here is extensive. What started as a 3.3-liter flat mill has been bumped up to 3.5-liters. The crank and camshafts are from a 964. You’ve got Mahle pistons, a modified turbo from Garrett, Motec smarts for the engine management, and better connecting rods courtesy of Carillo. Ahead of the engine is a Ruf five-speed dogleg gearbox. It’s the same transmission you’d find in a Yellowbird. Makellos says the whole affair dynos out to just north of 400 horsepower at the wheels.
Keeping the chassis in check is a set of KW coilovers, Elephant Racing control arms, front and rear swaybars, and a set of massive Toyo tires.
On the outside, Makellos has gone with a mix of IROC-inspired bodywork, a dash of 2.7 RS in the tail, and those wonderful massive fenders that shout that this is indeed a turbo car.
The entire package looks and sounds amazing.
